Children's Business Fair informational meeting to be held Dec 18

The Maryville Public Library will hold an informational meeting for their Children's Business Fair at 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 18th.

Youth Services Coordinator Elizabeth Argo says that the Business Fair is a unique opportunity for kids to learn about starting a business and receive feedback from seasoned entrepreneurs.

"It's an opportunity for kids to showcase their ideas and talents and strengths and build some character as they work through problems and strategize on a business plan.  They take their idea from creation through marketing and a business plan and review by different entrepreneurs of local business from the community where they give them feedback."

The event culminates in a marketplace on March 14th, when Argo says members of the community can purchase products or services and interact with participants.

"We love to see people come in and talk with the young entrepreneurs about how they came up with their idea, where they want to go with it.  Because some of these young people have already figured out that they want to set up their own businesses and we give them tools to be successful in that or at least start thinking in the right direction."

The informational meeting is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 18th at the library's lower level.
